Do you find yourself walking away from conversations wondering whether you were fully understood? The way you communicate will affect your interaction with others, how “likeable” you are and also how effectively you are able to influence an outcome.
Think of a time when you were communicating a new team target. Consider how you communicated the target and what the outcome was: positive or negative?
If the outcomes was positive, well done! Your style appears effective given the goal, the individual or team and the context. If the outcome was negative, then learn from this. Think through what changes you can make to communicate more effectively in the future.
The key to communicating is being able to constantly think through positive and negative experiences and tailor your style to the given reality. Being capable of constantly re-inventing your style is key, unfortunately one size does not fit all!
