Consider the downturn and the direct result this has on the employment market. Now consider that with any environmental change comes a need to adjust our strategies and plans. Agree? Well then, why do most people continue to pursue the same job search methodology despite the fact that this market has changed considerably in the last 18months?
The tools and processes you utilize to develop your career throughout the downturn should be different and should be developed with an understanding of the market. I believe it is essential that you find ways to submerge yourself in the "hidden" job market. Both as a employer and a job seeker. This is where the best candidates and job opportunities will exist. It may not be the easiest or simplest approach but it is certainly more rewarding than an automated rejection email or finding no one matches your job specification despite receiving 100 applications!
How? It is highly situational, dependant on what you are looking for. How and where can find/meet your target audience. Perhaps they are using press advertising at the moment? Alan Beard - 27/05/09You havn't addressed, what is hidden. As a technical person, but with practical skills, though, no qualifications there, is there other areas I should examine? Any thoughts? Alan
